Caso Negreira: Leaks reveal that Barcelona “cannot explain” payments to Enriquez Negreira

New revelations over Caso Negreira continue to emerge daily, as the Prosecutor’s Office’s case against Barcelona over “continuous sporting corruption” continues to wield insight into the club’s dealings with Enriquez Negreira.

Leaks emerged earlier this week of Barcelona’s schedule of payment to Negreira, during his time as Vice President of Referee’s Committee in Spain. The club insist that the fees paid were for referee reports, examples of which have also leaked in recent days.

Barcelona have maintained that they have done nothing wrong during Caso Negreira, but club officials have had a difficult time explaining exact details of their version of events to prosecutors.

As per El Pais (via Diario AS), a document used in the judicial investigation has shown official statements of club employees that were interviewed for the prosecution’s case, in which they reveal that certain details have so far been left unexplained.

“No written contract was entered into with that company (Dasnil 95). The club does not know the details of the formalisation of the verbal contract, since it goes back to 2001. The people who should have negotiated these contracts are no longer employees of the club.

“The Barcelona entity responded in writing to the authorities in reference to the inspection of the Treasury to Dasnil and Nilsad, thanks to which ‘Caso Negreira’ was uncovered. It cannot be said who, on behalf of Barcelona, was responsible for the order of the services.”

Barcelona are expected to hold a press conference in the coming weeks, in which President Joan Laporta will give the club’s version of events over the matter.
