Sevilla close to Papu Gomez deal

Sevilla have taken the lead in the pursuit of Atalanta’s Argentine midfielder Papu Gomez according to a report in Marca.

Monchi is currently in negotiations with the Italian club, with the deal expected to be completed in the next week. Julen Lopetegui is keen to incorporate a player who can break the lines, someone Sevilla have lacked since Ever Banega departed.

Willian Jose completes Wolves move

Real Sociedad forward Willian Jose has left the club to join Premier League side Wolves on a loan deal with an option to buy.

The deal, subject to international clearance and a work permit, could pave the way for La Real to move for Sevilla forward Carlos Fernandez, who they’ve been linked with.

Alaves celebrate centenary

Alaves are today celebrating their centenary. Based in the Basque city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, they were founded on January 23rd, 1921.

They celebrate the date by welcoming La Liga champions Real Madrid to Mendizorroza this evening, a game of serious importance for Los Blancos as well as the hosts.
