Jose Bordalas: If you have a Spanish flag, they call you fascist

Getafe boss Jose Bordalas has criticised Spanish culture and believes that those who carry the national flag are labelled as ‘fascists.’

The Coach was responding to a question in an interview with El Mundo in which he was asked why so few football personalities appeared to be political, with Pep Guardiola - who supports Catalan independence from Spain - the exception.

“Here it is not well thought of that people opt for something or give their point of view,” Bordalas explained in a wide-ranging interview.

Getafe boss Jose Bordalas 'frustrated' by VAR stoppages

Getafe Coach Jose Bordalas admits the nine minutes of added time because of VAR decisions were ‘frustrating’ as he hailed his ‘outstanding’ team.

Los Azulones secured an impressive two-goal victory at Sevilla on Sunday night but the second half was disrupted with a number of VAR stoppages which led to the lengthy period of stoppage time.

“It was frustrating because of the numerous VAR issues which prolonged the match,” Bordalas told reporters, as cited by press agency EFE.

Bordalas: Geta made it easy

Jose Bordalas rued his Getafe side ‘making it too easy’ for Real Madrid during Sunday’s 2-0 defeat in La Liga.

“It was a complicated game, but my feeling is that maybe we weren’t at the desired level of demand. We didn’t do what we’d set out,” the Coach said after the match.

“Nothing came off for us. They played very comfortably and we made it too easy for them.

‘Madrid still great without Ronaldo’

Jose Bordalas has warned his Getafe side that Real Madrid remain just as ‘great’ without Cristiano Ronaldo.

Getafe have not beaten Madrid away from home since February 2008, which remains their only victory at the Santiago Bernabeu, and Bordalas asserted Sunday’s Liga opener was made no easier by Los Blancos no longer counting on Ronaldo’s goalscoring.

“Real Madrid will always be the favourites in derbies like these, before and after Cristiano Ronaldo,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

'The Virgin appeared to Betis' - Bordalas

Getafe Coach Jose Bordalas quipped that ‘The Virgin appeared’ in front of Real Betis as they somehow clung on to three points on Monday.

Los Azulones had a goal disallowed, saw a penalty saved, a free-kick hit the post and run along the line, and a late header controversially adjudged to not have crossed the line.

“The Virgin appeared to Betis and they survived,” Bordalas said of Betis after the match, as cited by Marca.
