'Simeone tactically my best Coach'

Former Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld has hailed Diego Simeone as ‘tactically the best Coach he has ever seen’.

The Southampton loanee helped Los Colchoneros to a first La Liga title in almost two decades last season, and he felt the Argentine's undying commitment to winning set him aside from the rest of his fellow trainers.

Koeman rules out Barca return

Feyenoord boss Ronald Koeman has ruled out any possibility of succeeding Tito Vilanova at Barcelona.

The Spanish tactician stepped down from his position at Camp Nou on Friday following a cancer relapse.

But the 50-year-old, who won a European Cup with the Blaugrana as a player, has claimed there will be no return.

“Succeeding Vilanova? I don't think about that at all,” he told reporters.

“I don't know who it should be, I just care about Vilanova."

Koeman: Bayern don't have a Messi

Ex-Barcelona defender Ronald Koeman believes that Pep Guardiola faces a tough challenge at Bayern Munich because 'they don't have a Messi'.

The Spanish tactician was officially unveiled as the new man in charge at the Allianz Arena on Monday.

But his former teammate at Camp Nou thinks that the German team don't have a player who can decide a game.

“At Barcelona Pep had Lionel Messi,” he told De Telegraaf. “He could win a game on his own.

“In my opinion Bayern do not have a player similar to that.

‘Best? Messi, Ballon d’Or? Ronaldo’

Ronald Koeman picks Lionel Messi as the best player in the world, but would like to see Cristiano Ronaldo handed the next Ballon d’Or.

Messi has won the last three editions of the tournament, so former Barcelona defender Koeman believes it is time to let someone else hold the award for 2012.

“Messi is the best player in the world. Cristiano is a great player like Messi and he has long made the difference in Madrid,” mused the 49-year-old.

Koeman: Tito and Pep are similar

Former Barcelona defender Ronald Koeman believes there is not much difference between Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova.

Koeman, who scored the winner for Barca in the club’s first European Cup success in 1992, feels the transition from Pep to Tito has been seamless, although he expressed surprise at Vilanova’s appointment.

“There’s not a lot of difference between Pep’s Barcelona and Tito’s,” Koeman told radio station La Xarxa’s En Joc programme.
