Ajax set to offer new contract to Real Madrid target Donny van de Beek

Ajax are set to offer a new contract to midfielder Donny van de Beek - despite continued interest in him from Real Madrid.

The Dutch international was heavily linked with a summer move to the Santiago Bernabeu, following the high profile departures of former Ajax teammates Frenkie De Jong and Matthijs De Ligt, to Barcelona and Juventus respectively.

However the Eredivisie club blocked any potential move, as they look to retain players from the impressive 2018-19 run to the Champions League semi final stage.

Donny Van de Beek on the verge of Real Madrid move

Dutch international Donny Van de Beek looks set to sign for Real Madrid in the coming days.

The Ajax midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu in recent weeks, after moves for Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen look to have faded following the closure of the Premier League transfer window on August 8.

With the La Liga transfer window remaining open until September 2, Real Madrid are expected to do more business between now and then, despite the La Liga season kicking off on August 16.

Real Madrid have called off their interested in Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

Accoring to reports in Marca this weekend, Los Blancos haved decided to end their summer long chase of the French international, in favour of a move for Ajax midfielder Donny Van De Beek.

Manager Zinedine Zidane highlighted Pogba as his primary transfer target ahead of the 2019-20 La Liga season, however Van de Beek has emerged as a more achieveable option.

New FC Barcelona signing Frenkie De Jong is confident of securing a starting place this season.

The Dutch international arrived in June following his pre-agreed €75m move from Ajax, and the 22-year old midfielder is focused on forcing his way into Ernesto Valverde's starting XI.

"FC Barcelona is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and competition for place sis normal, he told an interview with Mundo Deportivo.

New FC Barcelona star Frenkie De Jong has spoken of his pride at being compared to Dutch legend Johan Cruyff.

The 22-year old, who agreed a €75m deal to join the La Liga champions from Ajax in January 2019, has been speaking ahead of his debut season in Catalonia.

New FC Barcelona star Frenkie De Jong is hopeful that former Ajax teammate Matthijs De Ligt will follow him to the Camp Nou.

Frenkie De Jong will be unveiled as a new FC Barcelona player later today.

The La Liga champions issued a statement to confirm that the Dutch international will be presented as their player, to fans at a ceremony at the Camp Nou at 1900 CET, after officially signing his contract with the club.

The stadium will open two hours beforehand, with the club expecting a large crowd to attend the event. amid huge excitement about De Jong's arrival.

FC Barcelona pull out of De Ligt race over wage demands

FC Barcelona have withdrawn from the battle to sign Ajax captain Matthijs De Ligt, after losing patience with his growing wage demands.

Despite being favourites to sign him during the back end of the 2018-19 season, reports in Marca this weekend are claiming that the La  Liga champions have simply had enough of the long running saga.
