Real Madrid goal keeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed he never questioned his ability since returning to La Liga.

The Belgian international controversially joined Los Blancos at the start of the 2018-19 season, despite winning a league title with arch rivals Atletico Madrid in 2014.

That move caused negativity for the former Chelsea man, however he has brushed off suggestions that he doubted his capability to be a success at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Atletico Madrid fined for Madrid derby breach

Atletico Madrid have been fined €40k by The Anti-Violence Commission following events in the Madrid derby in September.

As outlined by Cadena Cope, Atleti’s fine is in relation to “not preventing fans from occupying the central evacuation stairs of the stadium” during the derby clash, which finished scoreless.

Atletico Madrid are in advanced negotiations to land 17-year-old Brazilian forward Reinier from Flamengo, report Diario AS.

The 17-year-old is said to be the latest jewel to emerge from Brazilian football and is widely tipped to have a big future ahead of him at the top level.

Midweek madness

The TV scheduling for the midweek fixtures in La Liga means that several clubs have a very small turnaround between games this weekend. For example, Mallorca - whose game finished at 9pm on Thursday night - face a midday Sunday start away at Real Valladolid. Transit and tiredness means that if we haven’t already then we may see rotations from a number of clubs in this gameweek. Remember, in Spanish football playing three games in a week is unusual unless you are competing in European football.

Man City, Atletico Madrid linked to Brescia's Sandro Tonali

Atletico Madrid are among the clubs holding an interest in Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali, the club’s president has claimed.

Massimo Cellino name-checked Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City as being among the other clubs monitoring the situation of the 19-year-old central midfielder.

Nicknamed as ‘the new Andrea Pirlo’ - another former player of Brescia - Tonali rose to stardom for the club in Serie B and has been linked to Italy’s biggest clubs for some time.
