Sevilla President Jose Castro not impressed with Joan Laporta – ‘It’s ugly and bad for La Liga’

Sevilla President Jose Castro has backed up La Liga President Javier Tebas in saying that he was not convinced by Joan Laporta’s explanations on El Caso Negreira.

The Barcelona President gave a lengthy press conference on Monday, followed by an appearance at a La Liga assembly on Wednesday. He took 20 minutes to talk directly to the Presidents of La Liga, but Tebas explained afterwards the explanations were not sufficient.

Castro backed up that perspective on Cadena Cope.

“Laporta has done what he had to do; go to the League, explain the same thing he said at a press conference and we have all given our opinion. He answered what we had talked about but he has not said anything new and that, for those of us who have done so much for this League, we are concerned because this is a stain that is there.”

“We have told him that we all have refereeing delegates who have been referees who earn something, a small amount, and that we do not understand why €7m are spent; his talk has not convinced us at all.”

Sevilla have been one of the more vocal clubs in their anger, and Castro explained that nobody was being fooled by the idea that the consultancy reports Laporta claims Barcelona paid for were worth €7m.

“You have to get to the bottom of this because there are people who have profited, who have paid a referee who was in the Federation and who has been to influence the referees; nobody is fooled here. We have nothing against Barcelona but we cannot be discredited for something like this. This is very ugly and bad for the League, and all the LaLiga clubs are worried about it.”

Barcelona followed up with a statement declaring that they would not be commenting further on the matter outwith the courts. They will see Sevilla and Castro there, with all of the other La Liga clubs and La Liga itself now part of the case as injured parties.

  1. It maybe because I don’t understand the business of football,I only know football as sports activity through which teams compete and automatically making fans happy and sad at the same time.
With all what La’ Porta is saying I become stupid and do not understand how can a team get information from referees about games whereas the league is the one putting up fixtures with referees appointed for a game without paying anything except the money paid as salary to them, referees.
So if again the teams in the same league are wishing to hear what was the huge payments were for does it not mean anything to him that there are irregularities sensed without prejudicial judgement towards the act but trying to know the real truth.
Why now-a-days people lack a sense of cooperation but more having that of entitlement.I here understand that he started posing fingers whereas the subject is just for him to tell the story. And if I followed this story correctly and in time I remember a stage where it was mentioned that Negreira did mentioned that if some party was not continue doing something,he is going to spill the beans.
I really like this hullabaloo to end in a way that will satisfy everyone in a good way but if needs be the guilty,If there could be one also to face the law.
    KindlyM.E Leboko.
