Barcelona supporters planning Lionel Messi tribute during Copa del Rey Clasico

Speculation over Lionel Messi’s future as ramped up in recent weeks, as it becomes increasingly unlikely that he will renew his Paris Saint-Germain contract, which expires this summer.

Barcelona are one of the clubs interested in signing Messi, despite their current financial situation, and there appears to be a growing confidence that he will return to Catalonia ahead of next season, despite having offers from other clubs.

Understandably, excitement is building among Barcelona supporters about a potential homecoming for Messi, and those attending Wednesday evening’s Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou are preparing to show their appreciation to their greatest ever player.

As per MD, the home supporters are planning to chant Messi’s name in the 10th minute of El Clasico. It follows a similar event as the recent Kings League finals at Spotify Camp Nou, in which the Argentine’s was heralded by attending fans.

Messi’s return this summer would be a statement of intent for Barcelona ahead of next season, and they look to build on the successes of this campaign.
