Atletico Madrid settle on three sales for the summer

Atletico Madrid were always likely to look for sales in the summer regardless of the situation, but that situation was exacerbated by their elimination from Europe in the Champions League group stages. That has left a hole in their finances that they will look to correct in the transfer market.

As per Fichajes, Atleti have settled on three sales they are keen to make in the summer.

The first is Joao Felix, who is perhaps the most obvious. The Portuguese could command a massive fee, and has been well-received at Chelsea, in comparison to their struggles together. The London club are also keen to retain him.

Meanwhile midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia is also on the chopping block. While the Frenchman has not played poorly during his time at Atleti, neither has he made a claim for a starting spot, and with his contract expiring in 2024, it is no surprise they will try to move the 30-year-old on.

Finally, Saul Niguez is also set to be put on the market. His large wages and lack of protagonism make him an obvious candidate to move. He has played just 976 minutes this season, occupying a bit-part role.

Rayo Vallecano have been linked with a surprise move for him, but they are unlikely to offer the cash that Atleti seek for his signature. At 28 years of age, he should still have some sides willing to take a risk on him.
