Erik Lamela returns to Sevilla squad after four months out

Sevilla will be glad to receive some injury news with a positive side to it for once, as Erik Lamela returns to the squad for their clash against Real Sociedad.

The former Spurs player has been absent since November with a shoulder injury, having appeared in every Sevilla match this season up to that point.

Even so, Julen Lopetegui is still missing significant resources. Karim Rekik, Diego Carlos, Marcos Acuna, Suso and Papu Gomez have been joined by Rafa Mir on the treatment table, who picked up an injury in Sevilla’s defeat to West Ham on Thursday.

On the plus side, Lucas Ocampos is available again, after missing the West Ham match through suspension. Their opponents Real Sociedad are also suffering from a major absence, after Mikel Oyarzabal tore his anterior cruciate ligament earlier this week.

Sevilla are currently ten points off Real Madrid at the top of the table and will be hoping to arrest a poor run of form lately.
