AC Milan chief Paolo Maldini issues verdict on Barcelona’s Franck Kessie interest

AC Milan chief Paolo Maldini admits there is still no agreement over Franck Kessie amid interest from Barcelona.

Kessie is headed for the San Siro exit doors with his contract set to expire at the end of this season.

The 25-year-old midfielder is attracting attention from all around Europe, and Barcelona are one of the many teams to be linked.

The Blaugrana will have more space to do business over the summer due to restructuring long-term debt and new sponsorship deals.

But keen to land a big-money frontman, with Erling Haaland linked, they are likely to keep an eye out for cheap deals.

Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen is one of the players being eyed, and Kessie is said to be another.

Amid those links, Milan director Maldini has admitted it doesn’t look good as far as extending Kessie’s deal is concerned.

“The interest of Barcelona for Kessie? It’s normal,” he told Mediaset.

“He is about to finish (his contract) and we still haven’t got a deal.

“The line is direct from the club, we don’t deviate from it.”
