Louis Van Gaal: ‘Barcelona should no sign individualistic Neymar’

Former Barcelona boss Louis Van Gaal has warned the Catalan giants against re-signing Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain: “He is too individualistic.”

The Dutch boss won two La Liga titles among four major trophies whilst in charge of the Blaugrana and does not believe the club should resign the Brazilian, who left for Paris in a world record €222m deal last year.

“This is only my opinion, but I do not believe signing Neymar would be good for Barcelona,” Van Gaal told La Porteria de Beteve, as cited by Diario AS.

“He is too individualistic, I do not believe his qualities would benefit Barcelona and they should think a lot before attempting to re-sign him.”

Barcelona, whom Neymar left in a world record €222m deal last summer, are said to have already made initial contact while Real Madrid have also been heavily linked with a move.

PSG’s need to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations is said to have forced their hand to consider selling their star attacker.

Last week, former Barca captain Xavi Hernandez admitted he thought there was ‘no chance’ of the Brazilian return to the Camp Nou.
