Carles Alena: Barcelona doors open for Neymar

Barcelona midfielder Carles Alena insists the squad ‘always have their doors open’ for former star Neymar to return to the Camp Nou.

The Brazilian left the Blaugrana for Paris Saint-Germain in a world record €222m deal last year but has been linked with a return to the Catalan giants.

The comments from the Barca youth graduate coincided with a report that Real Madrid would not be continuing their pursuit of the star.

“He is one of the best players in the world, this club would always have their doors open to that type of player,” Alena told an interview with Esports Cope, as cited by Diario AS.

“Of course, we would want him to return to the club, he would improve our team, our results and the players.

“Ousmane Dembele? He is a full member of the squad, the mistakes have been reported and they have been internally sorted out, but we need to help him as with every player.

“When you come into this club from abroad it is not always easy to adapt, but this is a dressing room who will help him nurture and develop his talent.

“Atletico Madrid? It is a very challenging and important game for us, we need to bounce back from (the defeat against) Real Betis.”
