‘Sandro wants Malaga return’

Malaga boss Michel Gonzalez ‘thinks’ Everton striker Sandro Ramirez wants to re-join the club and is ‘hopeful’ of a return for midfielder Manuel Iturra.

Sandro scored 14 times in La Liga for Malaga last season and subsequently earned a move to Everton, but the former Barcelona attacker has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League.

“I’m hopeful,” the Coach said at a Press conference for Monday’s visit of neighbours Real Betis in La Liga.

“Players play where they want, and I think Sandro wants to come and play for Malaga again.

“From there, everything is subjective and depends on certain situations and negotiations.”

Michel also revealed the Andalusians were closing in on a deal to sign Iturra a second time, the Chilean having played a key role in their unlikely run to the Champions League quarter-finals four years ago.

“We’re waiting for the signature of his club [Club Necaxa]. Hopefully it’ll arrive very soon,” added the former Real Madrid midfielder.

“He’s a player who, evaluating all the conditions, will contribute. Hopefully he’ll contribute the same way he did when he first joined Malaga.

“He seemed to arrive as a squad player the first time, but ultmately he emerged as a leading light.”
