Andoni Zubizarreta’s Olympique Marseille are reportedly planning to offer veteran Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas a two-year contract.
According to A Bola, Casillas’s good season with Porto has not gone unnoticed, with Zubizarreta – now sporting director at Marseille – hoping to bring his fellow Spaniard in.
The Real Madrid icon is in charge of his own destiny as his contract expires at the end of the season, although he has the option of a further year in Portugal.
Zubi was sacked as Barca’s sporting director in January 2015 and took up the same role at Marseille last October, as part of a takeover by American business Frank McCourt.
Casillas coincidentally surpassed the Basque’s then-record haul of 126 caps for Spain in 2011, although he has yet to be called up by Julen Lopetegui.
