Lucas Silva to replace Khedira?

Promising Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva is being lined up to replace Sami Khedira at the Santiago Bernabeu, reports Marca.

Khedira’s future in Madrid is looking increasingly uncertain with his contract due to expire next June and no offer of a new one having been forthcoming.

As a result, boss Carlo Ancelotti is stepping up his efforts to bring in a replacement and has identified the Cruzeiro player as the one to fill the German international’s boots.

Silva, 21, has yet to make his debut for the national side, although he has been a regular in the youth teams, and shot to prominence with the Under-20s this summer in Brazil’s victory in the prestigious Toulon Tournament in France.

However, Marca suggests he looks set to make his full debut any time soon, saying Brazil Coach Dunga was widely criticised when he decided not to include the youngster in his most recent squad.
