Espanyol wait on Wakaso, Amat offers

Espanyol are waiting on any concrete offers for both midfielder Wakaso Mubarak and defender Jordi Amat, reports Marca.

The Barcelona club, heavily in debt and desperate to reduce their wage bill before the start of the 2012-13 campaign, will consider offers for some of their first-team squad but the only official interest so far shown has been in Wakaso, Amat, Thievy Bufouma and Hector Moreno.

Nonetheless, the Espanyol board know the sale of the first two would bring a much-needed €7m into the coffers.

In Wakaso’s case, the Ghanaian international [pictured] has already expressed an interest in trying his luck in either England or Italy, with Everton, Inter and Juventus all having had him watched last term.

Amat, on the other hand, impressed whilst on loan at Rayo Vallecano last season and from a sporting point of view Los Periquitos would like to keep him. However, the 21-year-old could fetch between €2m and €3m and Espanyol feel that centre-back is a position in which they are well covered.

Furthermore, the player is open to a move away from Cornella El-Prat provided it was an arrangement that suited both parties.
