Dos Santos wants stability at Mallorca

New Real Mallorca signing Giovani Dos Santos says he wants stability with Los Bermellones following his stint in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old former Barcelona midfielder has been signed from Tottenham Hotspur on a four-year deal and is thankful to be back in Spain again to resume a career that appeared to have stuttered in recent seasons.

Dos Santos was sent on loan to Ipswich Town, Galatasaray and Racing Santander in his time at White Hart Lane but feels he is now ready to take La Liga by storm.

“I will do my best to take advantage of the opportunity Mallorca have given me to return to Spain at a time when I think I can explode as a footballer,” he said on his official presentation at the Iberostar Stadium.

“For the last two years I was keen to come back and I hope to find stability. When Mallorca made me an offer I didn’t have to think twice.”

According to the Mexican international, he liked what he saw having watched Joaquin Caparros’ team in action in the 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad at the weekend.

“I saw a very united Mallorca, compact, solid and led by a very good Coach,” insisted Dos Santos, who believes it will not take him long to adapt to Spanish football after his spell in England.

“This is where I was formed as a footballer and where I feel at home. I don’t think I’ll need much time to adapt although I played a lot of games during the summer [when he won Olympic Gold with Mexico in London].”

More than 500 fans turned out to welcome Dos Santos, with the club’s maximum shareholder and director of football Lorenzo Serra Ferrer declaring ‘we have signed one of the stars of football’.
