Brazilian giants have confirmed interest in Sergio Ramos amid reports of possible Real Madrid return

Sergio Ramos’ name has been involved in intense transfer speculation over the last few days, specifically in regards to Real Madrid. Eder Militao’s season-ending ACL injury means that Los Blancos are on the hunt for a new central defender, and the 38-year-old club legend has been mentioned as a possible signing.

However, Florentino Perez is believed to strongly oppose the prospect of Ramos returning, which makes the chance of a deal happening very slim. Furthermore, it also appears that the Spanish defender has more chances of making his return to football in Brazil.

According to ESPN (via Sport), there has been advanced talks between Ramos and Corinthians, whose executive Fabinho Soldado has also confirmed that the veteran centre-back is on their shortlist.

“There are several names that appear during the transfer window, when it is an important moment of the year. Not only has Sergio Ramos been talked about, but many others. We analyse and of course we have to prioritise the position. The financial issue is important and we will always make the best choice for Corinthians.”

It remains to be seen where Ramos ends up next, but at the very least, it almost certainly will not be Real Madrid – despite their injury crisis.
