Valencia forward Rafa Mir is currently under investigation for an alleged sexual assault, after a case was brought against him two weeks ago. He is currently serving an internal suspension from the club of a week in isolated training and two games, following a fine too.
According to the first edict on the case, Rafa Mir’s testimony is described as ‘vague, generic and unspecific’, report Relevo. On the other hand, the victim’s story has been qualified as ‘coherent and firm’ in their accusations. The document is part of the case that will lead up to it being brought to court, and the investigation is directed by an investigating magistrate, before being heard.
Mir could face a punishment of one to five years if found guilty of sexual assault, although he has defended his innocence. Mir has been heavily criticised by teammate Pepelu and manager Ruben Baraja for his conduct, although thus far he has only been punished for breaking team curfew laws.
