Atletico Madrid seemed to have been in the process of pulling off a major coup in the transfer market, with Conor Gallagher and Julian Alvarez arriving from Chelsea and Manchester City respectively. They will cost a total of €115m, which could rise to €135m. Until now it had always been noted that Samu Omorodion’s exit to Chelsea was a key part of the deal.

Despite that deal, worth around €45m, collapsing on Sunday night, Cadena Cope report that neither of the deals for Gallagher or Alvarez are in jeopardy. That is backed up by Fabrizio Romano, with Chelsea now negotiating a potential move for Joao Felix too. Indeed, Gallagher has already started training with Los Rojiblancos, and has reportedly put pen to paper, despite the fact Atletico have not confirmed the deal.

Major issues have been confirmed, and Omorodion will return to Madrid in the coming hours, with strong possibilities of joining another club in the next few days.

This news will come as a major relief to all of the parties involved, save perhaps Omorodion, whose position remains up in the air. Had Alvarez remained at City, or Gallagher at Chelsea, it could have been an awkward situation for all involved, with Chelsea and City no doubt working to spend the money from the deals already.
