Chelsea yet to persuade Atletico Madrid with Samu Omorodion offers

Chelsea are looking to bring in another striker this summer, although the option of using Christopher Nkunku there has been considered. One of the options they have already moved for is Samu Omorodion, but so far they have found no give in Atletico Madrid’s resolve to hold onto the 19-year-old forward.

Amid reports that Chelsea have reopened talks with Atletico for Omorodion, Matteo Moretto has told Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing that any offers made by Chelsea so far have been rejected by Los Colchoneros. They remain set on keeping Omorodion, who thus far has indicated that he wants to stay at Atletico as well.

Yet the Blues undoubtedly have the financial power to make an offer that Atletico could consider irrefutable. Omorodion has a release clause of €80m, and recent reports put Chelsea’s last offer between €40-50m. Still a teenager, Omorodion undoubtedly has the potential to become one of the best in the world, but so far it remains just that.
