Luis de la Fuente drops surprises in final cut for Spain Euro 2024 squad – Barcelona starlet left out

Spain have announced their final 26-man squad for Euro 2024, after Luis de la Fuente trimmed down three names from the list. Surprise call up Ayoze Perez has made the squad, as has Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez, but teammate Pau Cubarsi has not.

Most had assumed that Cubarsi would make the squad given the glowing terms in which he had spoken about the 17-year-old, but it appears he has lost out to Dani Vivian, with Robin Le Normand, Aymeric Laporte and Nacho Fernandez.

In midfield, Girona captain Aleix Garcia and Atletico Madrid’s Marcos Llorente have also missed out in favour of Rodri, Martin Zubimendi, Fabian Ruiz, Mikel Merino, Pedri, Alex Baena and Lopez.

Up front, Ayoze was the main surprise, while Ferran Torres made it into the squad too, with most expecting anothr midfielder and the pair mentioned to battle it out.

Full Squad:

Goalkeepers: Unai Simon, David Raya, Alex Remiro

Defenders: Dani Carvajal, Jesus Navas, Aymeric Laporte, Robin Le Normand, Nacho Fernandez, Dani Vivian, Pau Cubarsi, Alejandro Grimaldo, Marc Cucurella.

Midfielders: Rodri Hernandez, Martin Zubimendi, Fabian Ruiz, Mikel Merino, Pedri, Alex Baena, Fermin Lopez.

  2. You’re probably the only person on the planet who thinks Cubarsi is overrated. So have fun in your delusion. He’s on the golden boy top 10 list airhead. You obviously don’t know talent or football.

  3. Mr. Barlow . . . do you have a problem with writing “Real Betis” forward Ayoze Perez?
