Real Sociedad interested in pair of Barcelona starlets, could be included in Mikel Merino deal

Barcelona are preparing to make a move for Mikel Merino this summer, as the Real Sociedad midfielder has been identified as a top target for the transfer window. There is a belief from within the Catalan club that he could be signed for €30m because his contract ends in 2025, although this price could be reduced.

Barcelona may opt to include players in order to bring down the fee they’d need to fork out, and they are aware of players that La Real are showing interest in. According to Sport, Mikayil Faye and Pablo Torre are both wanted by the San Sebastian-based side, and Barcelona are open to allowing both players to leave, if necessary.

Torre will certainly be allowed to go, as he’d not expected to feature in Hansi Flick’s plans, whereas Faye is wanted in the first team, although his place is uncertain because of the overbooking of centre-backs already at the club. The 19-year-old could opt to leave, and La Real could be a possible destination if Robin Le Normand, heavily linked with Atletico Madrid, were to leave.

It remains to be seen whether a player(s)-plus-cash deal is pursued by Barcelona, although it’s worth noting that Real Sociedad would prefer to receive only a fee.

  1. When a player barely worth 5-7 mils makes headlines three days in row for this pig sty of a dysfunctional circus club, you know they are heading nowhere in their transfer business.
Of course there has been juicy fails so far, but unsurprisingly, noone wants to buy their trash players with inflated wages for la la land figures.
    Whoda thunk.
