Sevilla part ways with 32-year-old winger as squad overhaul continues

After two very disappointing seasons domestically, Sevilla will be hoping to get back near the head of the table in 2024-25. A new era is abound, which will be led by incoming new manager Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta, and with this in mind, some of the older guard have been moving on.

Sergio Ramos has been heavily linked with a move away at the end of his contract, while one player definitely leaving is Erik Lamela, whose deal is also up in five weeks’ time. The 32-year-old, who signed from Tottenham Hotspur in 2021, has been confirmed to be leaving Sevilla in the summer.

Lamela struggled for playing time in 2023-24, largely due to injury, although he played a major role in Sevilla’s seventh Europa League success the year prior.

The rebuild continues at Sevilla, and it will be very interesting to follow their transfer market activity in the coming weeks and months. It should be a very exciting and intriguing time for Los Nervionenses’ supporters.
