“Many clubs” interested in signing Ronald Araujo – but Barcelona have clear plan to secure his future

Ronald Araujo’s future has been a topic of significant speculation over the course of the season, and that is sure to continue on to the summer. The Uruguayan defender is considered to be one of the Barcelona’s best and most important players, although a number of clubs – including Bayern Munich and Manchester United – have been linked with a possible move during the off-season.

Barcelona’s stance on Araujo is clear – they are desperate to keep him. Contract negotiations are planned, although they are yet to get underway. However, there is no reason to worry for now, despite Fabrizio Romano telling The Daily Briefing that “many clubs” are interested in signing the Uruguayan defender this summer.

“There’s no updates or developments on Ronald Araujo’s future yet. Barcelona are fully focused on the pitch now, but then they will discuss many contracts including Araujo, Pedri, Cubarsi and more. Many clubs appreciate Araujo but Barca will offer him a new deal, that’s been the expectation at the club for a long time.”

Barcelona see Araujo and Pau Cubarsi as their long-term centre-back partnership, and they are keen to secure their futures in the coming months. That would be an excellent foundation to build on, if they can finalise everything.
