It’s become evident that Barcelona have made the pivot position a top priority for this summer, but where exactly they find a long-term answer to at least play in the same position as Sergio Busquets used to is another question.
One of the names they have been linked to in recent days is Feyenoord midfielder Mats Wieffer, who has been extensively linked to Atletico Madrid as well as the Premier League. Sporting Director Deco reportedly asked former Feyenoord manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst about the 24-year-old while the latter was present in Barcelona for their clash with Napoli.

Yet Matteo Moretto has made it clear that Wieffer is not a priority for the Blaugrana this summer, although he does remain on the agenda for Diego Simeone. Everton’s Amadou Onana remains their top target, and if they cannot afford a deal for the Senegalese midfielder, they will look for a similar profile of player to him, rather than Wieffer or one resembling the Dutchman.

The language, the culture, the weather, the football… I feel like things are getting better and better. But now I have to show that I'm starting to be ready and that… pic.twitter.com/r3zPTUdSbp

The latest on Onana is that Everton will not listen to offers of less than €60m for him this summer. Although that could well be a negotiating position, if Arsenal or Manchester United do make a move for him, then the Blaugrana will not be able to compete for him financially. Deco must at the very least be considering other options at this point.
