There’s no doubt that Pedri has been an excellent signing for Barcelona. The 21-year-old arrived from Las Palmas back in the summer of 2020, and although he has not played too much over the last couple of years due to injury, he has still been a key player for the Catalan giants, and also Spain.
Barcelona paid Las Palmas just €5m initially for Pedri, but a series of add-ons were included as part of the deal. Up until recently, the overall transfer fee paid to the Gran Canaria-based side sat at €22m, although that has now increased further.
Relevo say that Pedri made his 100th appearance for Barcelona across La Liga, the Copa del Rey and European competitions against Athletic Club on Wednesday, and this has triggered another clause in the deal with Las Palmas. The Blaugrana are now required to pay another €5m to their La Liga rivals.
The good news for Barcelona is that there are no more expectation-based clauses left as part of the deal. The only clause that now remains is a 15% sell-on clause, which would become active in the event that the midfielder is ever sold by the Catalan giants.
