Why Kylian Mbappe’s decision on future will end Real Madrid speculation this time

Perhaps no transfer saga in the history of football has been talked about more, nor run so long. Yet Kylian Mbappe is now free to sign a contract with Real Madrid again in order to sign a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain. The decision this time is set to go differently though.

Not only are Real Madrid less committed to going all out for Mbappe, they want to set the timescales for a deal to be done. If indeed they are sticking to their plan, Los Blancos have already sent Mbappe an offer. In contrast to two years ago, they will withdraw their offer after two weeks.

According to Diario AS, the possibility of him signing a new deal with PSG is emminently possible though. They say that it will not result in a similar drawn out saga as his latest deal did though. Rumours that Real Madrid were still interested circulated just weeks after the contract was signed last time, but if Mbappe does stay at PSG, he will put to bed the idea he could move by penning a long-term deal with PSG.

There is little clarity on Mbappe’s future as things stand, and the 25-year-old has remained silent for much of the past six months, attempting not to fuel the attention directed towards his future. In the Spanish capital, there is a quiet confidence they will get a deal done, but Real Madrid do not want to be embarassed as they were last time.
