Real Madrid edge past Braga to continue 100% record in Champions League

Real Madrid have one foot in the Champions League knockout stages after they continued their 100% record in the group stages with a narrow 2-1 victory over Braga on MD3.

Carlo Ancelotti made four changes from the side that drew with Sevilla on Saturday, with the likes of David Alaba, Aurelien Tchouameni and Ferland Mendy seemingly rested ahead of El Clasico this weekend. One of those to keep their place was Rodrygo, and it was he that got the opening goal.

Excellent play on the left from Vinicius Junior saw him drive into the box before crossing for Rodrygo to stab into the back of the net. It was a big moment for the Brazilian, who scored his first goal in 11 matches.

On the hour mark, Real Madrid doubled their lead courtesy of the in-form Jude Bellingham. The Englishman collected a pass from Vinicius, before finessing the ball into the far corner from the edge of the box.

However, Braga hit back almost immediately. Basque forward Alvaro Djalo was played in inside the box and he dually finished beyond Kepa Arrizabalaga to get the Portuguese side back in the game.

Unfortunately for Braga, they could not find an equaliser, meaning that Real Madrid sit on nine points out of nine in Group C, three points ahead of Napoli in second and six ahead of Braga in third.
