Liverpool losing ground in Jude Bellingham race to Premier League rival

For some time it had seemed as if Liverpool and Real Madrid would battle it out for the signature of teenage star Jude Bellingham, but the waters have muddied somewhat.

For a start, Borussia Dortmund appear to be fighting hard to hold onto Bellingham. Coach Edin Terzic remarked that they would like to hang on to talents like Bellingham for a year longer and he would no doubt continue developing in the Bundesliga.

However Marca say that the two frontrunners to be selecting him next year are now Manchester City and Real Madrid. Pep Guardiola’s side are willing to put €170m on the table, including transfer, agent fees and salary in order to make the move happen.

That said there are still no formal offers for Bellingham. Real Madrid are unlikely to look to compete with Manchester City in terms of their finances. Los Blancos will try to sell Bellingham on the star experience and marketing benefits of playing for Real Madrid.
