Robert Lewandowski denies media reports linking him with Barcelona

It seems there will be plenty of movement amongst Europe’s top strikers this summer, with the futures of Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski all seemingly up in the air.

The Polish forward, currently at Bayern Munich, has been heavily linked with Barcelona in the summer as the Catalans look for a cheaper alternative to Erling Haaland. His contract expires in 2023 and the suggestion is that it would be a much less expensive way to bring a top class striker to the club.

Speaking after Bayern Munich secured their 10th consecutive Bundesliga title, Lewandowski followed Mbappe by remaining tight lipped.

“I have also read what they are saying in the media. I can only say that it has nothing to do with me.”

Diario AS reported his words, as Lewandowski was pressed on his future.

“There will be a meeting, something will happen, but we don’t know what. We have to wait.”

Asked whether he wanted to stay at Bayern, a subtle difference to whether he would, Lewandowski still refused to show his hand.

“We will see what happens, it depends on both parties.”

Barcelona are still dealing with serious financial constraints, which makes any big moves a little tricky on their part, but surprised the footballing cognoscenti by finding a way to sign Ferran Torres in January.
