Barcelona contact Ousmane Dembele’s agent in first step to contract renewal

Despite Joan Laporta claiming that Ousmane Dembele’s agent was a ‘box of surprises’ on Monday night, Barcelona appear to have got in touch with him today.

At least according to Sport, who say that the club made the first step in thawing out relations between the two parties. The Catalan daily say Barcelona reached out to Moussa Sissoko (Dembele’s agent) in order to sound out negotiations over a new deal.

Laporta’s gave the impression that any chance of Dembele renewing was slim, saying it would have to fit within the salary limits they had already established.

The President had also given a glowing assessment of Leeds United‘s Raphinha – it appears the Blaugrana are pursuing the Brazilian. That being said, any deal would likely end up far more expensive than one to renew the Frenchman.

Just when it seemed as if the saga was reaching an end point, this may present an interesting twist.
