Barcelona are set to meet with the agent of Sergi Roberto next week, as per Mundo Deportivo.
The Catalan midfielder has spent his whole career at Barcelona but it appears their professional relationship may be coming to an end when the season finishes.
According to Gabriel Sans, there has been no contact between the club and Roberto for months over a new contract – his current deal finishes in June.
This year has arguably been his worst since making the leap to the first team under Tata Martino in the 2013-14 season. Managing only twelve appearances at the beginning of the season, Roberto has been injured with a hamstring problem since October and had to have surgery on it.
According to Goal, rivals Atletico Madrid are keeping a keen eye on the situation and may be poised to offer him a contract. Sergi Roberto’s priority is to stay in Catalonia but should nothing materialise, Atletico Madrid would allow him to stay in the country at a high level.
