FC Barcelona have been linked with a veritable array of players finishing their contracts this summer, including Franck Kessie, Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen.
One of those names heavily linked with the Catalan club is Dutch right-back Noussair Mazraoui. A key part of the Ajax team, he has made 30 appearances for them this season and has been a regular for several seasons now.
Speaking to Dutch television programme NOS, Mazraoui admitted that he had a lot of admiration for Dani Alves, as carried by Sport.
“He is my example, his qualities are beyond doubt. My style, always trying to attack, is inspired by Alves.”
Mazraoui has refused to admit that he has decided on his future, recently denying that a deal was done with Barcelona. As would make sense, it’s a decision he is considering very carefully.
“The project, the contract, the name of the club, everything is very important. But also the way in which you imagine yourself there. Two months remain [in the season] and I will take my decision during that time.”
A potential Mazraoui arrival could mean an exit for one of Barcelona’s current options. Sergino Dest has been linked with a move to Roma in light of the Mazraoui rumours, having already lost his place to Mazraoui before at Ajax previously. Alternatively, the club could decide against extending the contract of Dani Alves.
