Ancelotti believes Courtois is best goalkeeper in the world

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has declared that Thibaut Courtois is the best goalkeeper in the world, in his opinion.

In his pre-match press conference, Ancelotti was asked about Courtois’ standing amongst the best in his position. The Belgian was controversially left out of the nominees for the best men’s goalkeeper of the year award by FIFA.

Ancelotti was clear on where he stood.

“It’s a nonsense (smiling). Courtois, for me, is the best in the world.”

That being said, he did dilute his words. The quotes provided by SPORT.

“For me, Carvajal is the best right-back in the world, Mendy is the best left-back in the world.”

“Those who made the list should throw away their journalism licence, or whatever it is, if Courtois isn’t in the top ten goalkeepers in the world.”

Real Madrid face Mallorca on Monday evening, with the opportunity to extend their lead over Sevilla to ten points. Courtois has been instrumental for Los Blancos this season, sitting two goals behind Yassine Bounou in the Zamora award for the goalkeeper who concedes the least goals. He also saved a penalty to help Real Madrid through their Champions League tie with PSG.
