Barcelona to raise Araujo offer amid Premier League interest

Barcelona are keen to raise their contract offer for Ronald Araujo, according to Sport.

The Uruguayan defender has become an ever-present in the Barcelona defence this season and as contract negotiations drag on, the Catalan club are keen to tie him down sooner rather than later.

Recent weeks have seen a variety of clubs linked with Araujo, including PSG and Manchester United. In the case of the latter, it was suggested that they would double Barcelona’s offer.

After having an initial offer of €3m per year rejected in January, a second attempt by the club to secure a deal was also turned down in February. Their next offer should be with the Uruguayan during the upcoming international break.

Araujo is not set on earning a gargantuan salary, but does want to feel valued by Barcelona and perhaps receive a similar deal to other young Barcelona stars like Ansu Fati or Pedri. Meanwhile, there is a consensus at the club that they must not lose Araujo.
