Mauricio Pochettino remains confident over Kylian Mbappe’s future

Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino has reaffirmed his commitment to keeping Kylian Mbappe at the club this summer.

Mbappe has not agreed an extension to his contract with the Parisians as his current deal enters into its final months before the end of 2021/22.

PSG have made a string of attempts to retain the French international but the former AS Monaco star is rumoured to have rejected their attempts to keep him at the Parc des Princes.

However, despite appearing increasingly likely to join Real Madrid on a free transfer ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, Pochettino is still holding out hope on the 23-year-old.

“Mbappe is ours and we hope he will be here for a long time”, as per reports from EFE, via Mundo Deportivo.

“I understand the media needs news about one of the best in the world, but he is our player, and we hope he’ll be for a long time.

“He already declared it’s not the time for a decision, so let’s wait for him to make a statement.

“Everything else is conjecture and guesses at things that may be very far from reality.”

Mbappe finds himself as the key story ahead of PSG’s Champions League last 16 second leg away at Los Blancos this week.

A training ground injury has thrown his chances of travelling to Madrid in doubt with Pochettino set to make a late call on his key man.
