Jules Koundé admits he was affected by failed Chelsea transfer

Jules Koundé has admitted his failed transfer to Chelsea in the summer did affect him.

The Sevilla defender was heavily linked with a move away from Andalusia during the summer transfer window.

After an impressive season of last, Koundé was always going to be in for a busy summer, especially given he also took part in Euro 2020 with France.

But it’s no secret that it didn’t quite pan out as he would have liked.

Despite significant interest from Chelsea, the summer window came and went without the centre-back leaving Sevilla.

And while he is now back concentrated on matters at Sevilla, Koundé admits the transfer falling through did affect him.

He told TF1 via Mundo Deportivo: “Did it affect me? Yes, a little, but I already took care of that.”

Koundé remains one of the most highly-rated defenders in world football, still just 23 years of age, and at some point, his move will indeed come.

Sevilla will be hoping it arrives next summer rather than January given the solid start to the season they have made and Koundé’s contribution to that.
