Joao Felix details what Diego Simeone is asking from him after fine performance in Liverpool defeat

Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix has spoken about his improved performances following his return from injury.

Felix has often been criticised for his performances since his more than €100million arrival from Benfica around two years ago.

But amid a search for consistency, the midfielder has really kicked on following his return from injury in recent weeks.

Felix underwent an ankle operation over the summer to remove an aggravating pain, and since returning, he has impressed.

He was particularly good in Tuesday night’s narrow defeat to Liverpool, putting together a magnificent piece of solo play to assist Antoine Griezmann‘s equaliser.

After the game, Felix was asked about his current form and how he feels about his recent performances.

He said: “This is my football, to turn, to search for one-on-ones and look for my teammates and create a goal.

“That is what I am doing and that is what they ask of me. I have to continue like this to create opportunities for the team to score more goals.”

Diego Simeone will be keen to see more of these kinds of performances from Felix over the coming weeks.

Atleti have kept faith in the Portugal international over the last two years, even with some inconsistency, and it seems they may now be proven right.
