Ferran Torres turned down Real Madrid four times

Ferran Torres is the talk of the Spanish media after another superb performance for La Roja, and it’s lead to a slew of stories about how he was able to escape to Manchester City on the cheap from Valencia.

It’s not all down to the disastrous directing of football at the Mediterranean club. Real Madrid certainly tried their hand at snapping up the winger – as many as four times according to AS.

They claim that Real tracked Torres “from the moment he first kicked a ball,” but were just never able to get the deal done, or convince him that moving to the capital was the right idea.

At one point, they were even trying to get him to come to them to play as a full back. Given he’s ended up as one of the most deadly strikers in football (at least this season), that idea looks increasingly foolish.
