Real Madrid defender Marcelo to miss El Clasico

Real Madrid full-back Marcelo has been ruled out of El Clasico against Barcelona this week, according to Marca.

The Brazilian was substituted off for Ferland Mendy in the 42nd minute of the 6-0 Champions League win over Galatasaray after sustaining a muscular leg injury but has subsequently recovered.

Marcelo provided two assists against the Turkish club in the 6-0 rout at the Bernabeu, feeding his fellow Brazilian, Rodrygo Goes, to net the opening two goals.

It is claimed that the experienced full-back wanted to carry on due to his level of performance but Zinedine Zidane opted to withdraw him from action to prevent further damage.

Ferland Mendy (the most likely starter) and Nacho Fernandez are the other options to start as left-back over the coming games while Eden Hazard has also been ruled out of the clash at the Camp Nou.

However, the good news for Los Blancos is that Casemiro should be fit to start the encounter.
