Real Madrid and Barcelona remain keen on Donny van de Beek

Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek is still on the radar of La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid ahead of the 2020-21 season.

Both clubs were linked with a move for the Dutch international ahead of the current campaign, with Zinedine Zidane's side reportedly tabling a €35M bid after failing to land Paul Pogba from Manchester United.

However the Eredivise side fought off interest from Spain, as well as Serie A and Premier League clubs, as they looked to prevent any more players following Frenkie De Jong, Matthijs De Ligt and Lassa Schone out of the Johan Cruyff Arena.

According to reports in Diario Sport, Real Madrid have the current edge on their Catalan rivals, having already spoken to Ajax and van de Beek's representatives in the summer.

But Barcelona are not giving up in their own push for the 22-year old, who they are looking to reunite with De Jong in their midfield of future seasons, with Sergio Busquets nearing the end of his career.

However, despite the continued interest in a move for van de Beek, Ajax have now reportedly upped their valuation of the player to between €50-60M as his profile continues to rise.
