Man City reopen interest in Real Sociedad’s Mikel Oyarzabal

Manchester City view Real Sociedad forward Mikel Oyarzabal as the ideal replacement for Leroy Sane, report El Confidencial.

The Spain international has grown into one of the best attacking talents in La Liga and already has five goals to his name this season from 16 appearances.

The player has a €75m release clause at the Basque club and he could be an ideal replacement for Sane, heavily linked to a move to Bayern Munich.

In October, TEAMtalk had an ‘exclusive’ in which they say that City will prioritise the Spain international next summer following a similar report in Calciomercato.

Comments from Oyarzabal at that time on Cadena Cope may appear to cold water on reports that he will exit the club: “I see myself playing for La Real for many years, I only think of La Real…I feel comfortable, loved and wanted.”

Oyarzabal has hit 25 goals in La Liga across the past two seasons with his impressive level of performances earning him his first cap for the Spanish national side – in the victory over Sweden in June, where he also found the net.

The 22-year-old starred for his nation’s Under-21 side in their European Championships triumph this summer and is widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects in the country.

Oyarzabal was previously linked with a move to City this summer but no move came to fruition and it is still likely he will not force an exit from La Real.
