Zinedine Zidane’s hails Real Madrid’s personality in tough Alaves win

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has hailed the personality of his players after they battled out a 2-1 win away at Alaves.

Goals from Sergio Ramos and Dani Carvajal, in tough conditions at the Estadio Mendizorroza, have lifted Real Madrid above Barcelona, and on top of La Liga, for at least 24 hours.

The former French international was pleased with the attitude shown by his squad, as they prepare for a tough run of games.

"It is a very important victory (regardless of Barcelona's game with Atletico Madrid tomorrow)," he told Marca reports at full time.

"Winning at these grounds is what we live for."

"We showed a lot of personality, and we knew would have to fight, and we did."

"At the end of the game we have three points from a very difficult place to come, and I am pleased."

Real Madrid sealed their progress into the Champions League with a 2-2 midweek draw at home to Paris Saint-Germain, with a game to spare.

But they have a demanding run of matches before the winter break, with home games against Athletic Bilbao and Espanyol, as well as trips to the Mestalla and the Camp Nou.
