Barcelona track Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is being considered by Barcelona as an option for strengthening their defence.

That is according to a report in El Mundo Deportivo which claims the defender has been tracked by the club’s scouting team for a long time.

The Denmark international has featured in just 14 Premier League matches since the start of last season and has not been involved for the Blues in the division since September.

He has become a bit-part figure behind regular defenders Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tamouri, with Antonio Rudiger also preferred in that position.

Samuel Umtiti’s ongoing fitness concerns coupled with Gerard Pique’s age and a lack of young players coming through in the position is said to be making Barca look elsewhere for cover.

Clement Lenglet is a regular in Ernesto Valverde’s side but Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic is also said to be being monitored by the Blaugrana for a potential move.
