Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has responded to criticism from French Football Federation (FFF) president Noel Le Graet.
Benzema has not played for the French national team since 2015, after his expulsion following a controversy involving former international team mate Mathieu Valbuena.
Manager Didier Deschamps recently stated that he did not see a way back into the national set up for Benzema, and that was echoed by Le Graet, in a recent interview with RMC Sport.
"Benzema is a great player, I have never questioned that, and he is proving that this season with Real Madrid."
"However his adventure with France is over."
Benzema has responded angrily to Le Graet statement, by Tweeting a response aimed at the apparent contraction of non interference in Deschamps' decision making.
"I thought you (La Graet) were not going to interfere with the coach's decisions?"
"It is is only me that will decide when my international career is over."
"But if you think I am finished with France, then why not allow me ot play for one of the other countries I am eligible for."
"And then we will see."
Born in Lyon, Benzema is eligible to play for the country of his parents birth, Algeria, but he has previously rejected the opportunity to represent the North African nation prior to his senior France debut in 2007.
Benzema has represented France at every youth level from U17 to senior, and he is currently their the tenth highest scorer in French international history, with 27 goals in 81 games.
