Thibaut Courtois: I always believed in myself

Real Madrid goal keeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed he never questioned his ability since returning to La Liga.

The Belgian international controversially joined Los Blancos at the start of the 2018-19 season, despite winning a league title with arch rivals Atletico Madrid in 2014.

That move caused negativity for the former Chelsea man, however he has brushed off suggestions that he doubted his capability to be a success at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"I have always remained calm about my situation," he told an interview with Marca after Real Madrid's 4-0 win at Eibar.

"I know what I am worth, and I always have done."

"In fact, a goal keeper of my level is always wanting more."

"Wanting to stop more goals and perform better."

"I never lost my confidence, and I feel good."

Courtois was rested by Zinedine Zidane back in October, although the club strenuously denied rumours that was due to him suffering from anxiety, and the Belgian reaffirmed this in his post-game interview.

The 27-year old has now established himself as Zidane's undisputed No.1, following the summer departure of Keylor Navas, and he now kept five clean sheets in a row in all competitions for Los Blancos.
