Barcelona tracking Sao Paulo trio

Barcelona sporting director Eric Abidal and transfer guru Andre Cury have travelled to Brazil to scout three young Sao Paulo players, say reports.

ESPN Deportes cite reports in Globo Esporte that claim that the duo recently travelled to South America to speak with former Blaugrana full-back Dani Alves along with Juanfran, formerly of Atletico Madrid, who are both currently at the Brazilian side.

The three players in question that the Catalan giants are said to be tracking are Igor Liziero (a 21-year-old midfielder), attacking midfielder Igor Gomes, 20, along with teenage forward Antony (pictured).

Liziero has made 32 appearances for Sao Paulo since his debut in 2018 while Gomes has been capped by Brazil at Under-20 level while Antony has five goals in nine appearances for the nation’s Under-23 team.

A number of leading talents in the Brazilian top-flight have been transferred to Spain in recent years including Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, Renan Lodi and Arthur Melo.
