Junior Firpo ruled out for Barcelona

Barcelona wing-back Junior Firpo will miss Wednesday night’s Champions League clash against Inter with a hamstring injury.

As initially reported in El Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana are now short in the left-back position with Jordi Alba also ruled out of the match.

The hamstring injury occurred in the right leg of the Dominican-born player, who is now also a doubt to face Sevilla in La Liga on Sunday.

Alba initially picked up his injury in the first matchday of the Champions League – a scoreless draw in Dortmund – and now either Sergi Roberto or Nelson Semedo is set to deputise in the position.

Junior was a summer arrival at the Camp Nou from Real Betis and scored his first goal for the club in Saturday’s 2-0 league victory at Getafe.

The Blaugrana are hopeful of getting their first win of the Champions League campaign against Antonio Conte’s side on Wednesday.
